Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience writing/debugging code written in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go or JavaScript, etc.) and in virtualization and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience supporting customers in enterprise cloud solutions including technical support, escalation management, consulting, and issue resolution.
- Experience in compute infrastructure, supporting, developing, maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized environments.
- Experience with configuration, managing and troubleshooting VMware technologies (such as, vSphere (ESXi, vCenter), vSAN, NSX-T, HCX etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
- Certification in VMware Professional or similar.
- Experience in IaaS solutions: virtual machines and networks, on-premises/hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security models, cloud monitoring and logging, local and cloud storage.
- Experience of VMware platform / ecosystem tools: 1st party VMware ecosystem: horizon VDI, vRealize operations/automation, site recovery manager, NSX enterprise, NSX load balancer, SD-WAN, vCloud Suite / 3rd party VMware Ecosystem: Veeam, Zerto and similar Backup/DR tools. Application and operations tools: F5, Splunk, SolarWinds, TrendMicro etc.
- Experience in VMware solutions environment, VMware service operations: upgrading, implementing, migrating or supporting VMware environments using SRE or similar production practices.

Responsibilities
- Understand customer impact, manage escalations through effective diagnosis, trouble-shooting and resolution on VMware workloads on Google Cloud Platform products.
- Collect and analyze technical troubleshooting evidence like packet traces (tcpdump), heap dumps and thread dumps, operating system statistics for network, memory, processing, io systems to diagnose and resolve VMware deployments on GCP.
- Act as subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, business, and customer experience and with external partner and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve VMware on GCP and other products.
- Interact with our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to drive high-quality production and respond to outages to minimize impact on customers.
- Understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams, contribute to supportability engineering with multiple product and engineering teams to improve product quality and reduce contact rate.
