Data Center Technician - Mons - temporary mission of 6 months
Your new role
Our client is seeking a Data Center Operations Specialist to join their team. You will perform core data center operations and deployment tasks, such as maintenance, machine operations, networking, and media security, with day-to-day guidance. This role involves basic troubleshooting, problem identification, and executing operational procedures. You will also work alongside technicians to install, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and cabling. This can sometimes be a physically demanding job.
Responsibilities:
- Perform data center operations and deployment tasks.
- Fix broken servers (e.g., replace hard drives, RAM).
- Crimp and run Data Center cabling.
- Learn and apply diagnostic methods to troubleshoot Data Center equipment.
- Physically move and rack equipment.
- Execute operational procedures and follow security policies.
- Communicate with software engineers to resolve issues and escalate as needed.
- Report issues, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment or infrastructure problems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and infrastructure.
- Support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and compliance programs.
Your profile- Knowledge of and hands-on experience with computer hardware.
- Knowledge of data security systems, computer networking (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS), and physical networking components (e.g., fiber, cables, routers).
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
