MISSION: He is responsible of the activitiespertaining to the Design HSE discipline within medium/small sizeprojects, in compliance with the assigned budget and the projectschedule, assuring the cost optimization. He coordinates a Team ofengineers assigned to the project. He reports to the ProjectEngineering Manager for the peculiarities of the project and to theDesign HSE Head of Department for the management of resources. Incase of large LSTK projects, he can be assigned to a Design HSETeam that is coordinated by a Design HSE Manager. KEY ACTIVITIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES: During the execution of a project, the dutiesof Design HSE Leader are: To implement the Project HSE ManagementSystem at the Design stage by preparing a tailored Project DesignHSE Plan such as Design of Fire & Gas system , includingpositioning and C&E diagrams; Hazardous area classificationanalysis and ATEX 2014/34/UE requirements verification; Design ofActive and Passive fire protection systems, including technical bidevaluation and estimation for offers: - Fireproofing extension, -Monitors and hydrants quantity and positioning, - Fixed water spraysystems design and relevant facilities (NFPA standard), - Lowexpansion foam systems design and relevant facilities, -Firefighting P&ID, - Hydraulic calculations (PIPENET) inaccordance with NFPA requirements, - Fire extinguishers quantityand positioning; Design of Escape Ways; Design, technical bidevaluation and estimation for offers of safety equipment as: -Safety showers/eye washes, - Safety signs, - First aid kits, windsocks, breathing apparatus, etc.; Noise analysis and mapping;Partecipation and preparation of following studies: - HAZOP/SILassessment, - LOPA, - What-If Analysis, - RAM Analysis, -Consequence Analysis and QRA/FERA To manage the organization, thedevelopment, the performance and the follow-up of HSE Studies (suchas HAZOP, SIL Classification, QRA, RAM, etc.) and any other HSErelated activities at Design stage, as identified in the ProjectDesign HSE Plan (such as HSE Design Reviews, PSSRs, etc.); Toprepare and discuss with the Project Team (Project Manager andProject Engineering Manager) and the Design HSE Head of Departmentthe execution strategy of the project (including the projectschedule) and assure its application throughout the entire projectlife; To cooperate and coordinate with the Project EngineeringManager and the other Discipline Leaders to ensure the fulfillmentof and the compliance with the Project HSE requirements, and tocreate and maintain the project procedures, guidelines andstandards; To assure the coordination of the design activities ofthe discipline regardless the location and distribution of theengineering centers guaranteeing the consistency of the documentswith the contract, the respect of the time schedule, theimplementation of the contract requirements and the quality of thedeliverables under the guidance of the Project Engineering Managerand cooperating with the other Discipline Leaders; To interactwith Client representatives and Vendors for all the technicaltopics impacting on the project both in time and costs; Toguarantee assistance to the inspection, construction andcommissioning departments upon request as per project needs. As amember of the department, the duties of Design HSE Leader are: Toprovide feedback to the Design HSE Head of Department, concerningproblems arising from application of standard work methodologies,to improve the effectiveness and the efficiency of the department; To conduct technical training as per department and Company needsand exchange experience with colleagues of the entire MaireTecnimont Group for new Design techniques; To keep himselfup-to-date about the technical specific improvement of thediscipline.
