Amsterdam - In this role as a backend developer you will help create the best experience for delivering news to millions of users. You will join our team that works on creating new home and category pages using a new CMS. The stack is built upon the latest tech and includes Next.js, Typescript, AWS and Kotlin/Java Spring Boot.
About the team
Our News teams create the best user experience for our premium publishing brands: De Volkskrant, Trouw, Het Parool, De Morgen, HUMO, Margriet, Libelle, Flair. We are building and running a white-label platform for all these brands including web, mobile, tablets, and backend. In total we have 6 teams.You will be joining the team which consists of front-end developers, back-end developers, app developers, a tester, UX designer and a product owner. You will also be working together with other back-end developers from different teams.
What you will be doing
You will build back-end features for our platform while always striving for the best code quality and applying security measures. The features are meant to give editors more tools to enrich the home and category pages they publish. You will also work closely with the Product Owner, our (UX) designers and business stakeholders. Your main tasks are:
You build it, you run it: designing, coding, testing, deploying, implementing new features and doing day-to-day operations of all our websites and data to our mobile apps.
Identify bottlenecks and improve the system to make it more robust, scalable and work fluently.
Share knowledge with our other back-end developers and together make sure our platform grows and moves in the right direction
