About Our Common Home

Our Common Home (OCH) is a global network that brings those left out of the existing climate movement into the conversation about how to protect their environment, on their own terms. Our network organizations, based in critical nations around the world, work to take climate and environment out of the polarization dynamics that increasingly undermine the possibility of achieving the broad support needed for effective environmental action. Our 10+ network organizations are based across four continents, and are supported by a global team that provides world-class excellence in campaigns, impact measurement, research and operations.

Position Overview

We are looking for a strategic, seasoned Finance Director to lead our global financial operations and help ensure OCHs long-term sustainability. This senior-level role is ideal for a finance professional with a deep understanding of nonprofit finance in a multi-entity international context. You will oversee budgeting, financial planning, reporting and compliance across OCH''s network of independent entities, collaborating with leadership to align financial strategy with OCHs mission of inclusive and impactful grassroots climate action. This is an opportunity to shape the financial future of a growing organisation that is at the forefront of addressing climate change.

    • Provide strategic insights to leadership on resource allocation, cost management and fundraising strategies.
    • Assist in calculating the full cost of programs or projects to inform fundraising goals and proposals, and assess cost per dollar raised for better understanding of return on investment on fundraising activity.
    • Provide guidance on setting competitive yet realistic indirect cost rates for grant proposals.
  3. Cash flow and payments
    • Lead the treasury function and assess opportunities for investment strategies.

  4. Compliance and risk management
    • Ensure compliance with Swiss financial regulations, tax laws, and relevant international standards.
    • Support local entities in meeting VAT and tax filing requirements.
    • Oversee external auditors, ensuring that all filings are accurate and submitted on time, and ensure that any finance-related recommendations issued by the auditors are addressed.
    • Develop and implement an internal control system to mitigate risks and ensure financial integrity across the network.
  5. Income management
    • Monitor revenue projections and donor contributions, ensuring accurate and timely internal and external reporting as well as compliance with donor requirements.
    • Support the development of budget proposals for grant requests.
    • Support the drafting of financial sections of donor-facing materials, such as annual reports.
  6. Team leadership and development
    • Lead and mentor the in-house Accounting Officer and provide guidance to finance teams across OCHs global network.
