This position will provide professional and courteous assistance with patient accounts. To assist incoming calls from patients/insurance and resolve any discrepancies on an account within 24 hours. The Customer Service Representative works in a team environment to fulfill the mission and goals of the Division.**Key Responsibilities include**:Coordinate and follow through on the reimbursement activity for accounts with patient responsibilities.Initiates proactive measures that result in account resolution, including written and verbal follow up correspondence with patients, colleagues and managers.Ensures all conditions for payment receipt have been satisfied; which includes but not limited to:accurate chargesaccurate insurance paymentaccurate insurance information for secondary billingco-insuranceco-paysResponds timely and accurately to all incoming related correspondence and inquiries from payors, patients and other authorized parties. Reports any trends in incoming call or correspondence to managers for appropriated follow-up.Interacts with co-workers and other representative to obtain required information on a timely basis.Initiates contact with patients as necessaryInitiates recommendations and actions for resolving patient accounts. Evaluates accounts to determine any adjustments or change corrections required.When required, submits bills to insurance for secondary insurance.Ensures that all necessary documentation and information is correct according to divisional policies and procedures.Research and prioritize incoming mail.Responds to all calls from other divisions or insurance companies in an efficient and courteous manner.Clearly documents within the patients account, based on internal policies and procedures.Demonstrates teamwork and provides assistance with special projects when assigned.Maintains a positive image when dealing with department personnel and other City of Hope employees.Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.**Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration**:High School Diploma- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience performing medical customer service functions. Experience includes corresponding with patient and insurance companies in resolving patient accounts. Proven ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks.
