Your opportunity
Step into a hands-on, independent, versatile role as a Field Service Engineer and contribute directly to the readiness of specialised small boats used in defence and security operations. Split between workshop-based tasks and documentation or planning activities, this role is ideal for someone with a passion for marine engineering and a drive to solve real-world technical challenges, often in the field.
What you will do
- Conduct maintenance , modifications, repairs, and revisions on small craft such as RHIBs and FRISCs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Perform updates to technical documentation and manage configuration control .
- Provide on-site service support both locally and internationally.
- Contribute to the improvement of maintenance procedures and documentation.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to maintain readiness levels .
Where you will work
Youll be based in the Netherlands, working in a dynamic, flexible environment that requires initiative, adaptability, and a hands-on mindset. The role involves frequent travel and interaction with field teams and clients.

- Occasional international travel supporting global operations.
- Hybrid responsibilities: 50% hands-on, 50% technical/administrative.
What you already have
- BSc in Marine Engineering.
- Broad practical experience across mechanical, electrical, and GRP systems .
- Knowledge of small boat systems, including low-pressure air systems .
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills .
- Experience with Volvo Penta engines and diagnostic tools (e.g. Vodia) is a plus.
- VCA certification is preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and engineering drawings .
- Fluent in English , with working knowledge of Dutch .
- Dutch citizen or EU work/residence rights .
- Willingness to travel internationally and meet security vetting requirements.
- Class B driving license .
- Ability to work in Den Helder
