Purpose of the Post The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will have specialist clinical knowledge and skills in the area of neuro-disability, particularly in Complex Physical and Sensory Disabilities. S/he will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of an evidence-based, patient-focused, quality Occupational Therapy Service in Disability Services, including Motor and Postural Management. S/he will act as an advanced clinical resource to Occupational Therapists and other members of the interdisciplinary team, especially for complex cases of children with physical disabilities that require in-depth clinical reasoning to support their motor and postural functioning and independence. The post holder will promote interdisciplinary working and demonstrate best practices in managing complex physical disabilities while integrating current and relevant research theory into practice. The post holder will lead and participate in the interdisciplinary development of care pathways and service standards for complex physical disabilities, including planning and development of cross-site integrated working processes. S/he will collaborate with Heads of Discipline in Primary Care to develop pathways for children with physical disabilities and participate in research and service evaluation as appropriate. The post holder will carry a clinical caseload and may facilitate the role of Key Contact for some cases within the CDNT, along with participating in other critical team working roles and processes.
