Position Overview:
The Category Operations Head is a senior leadership role responsible for
overseeing the end to end operational strategy and execution for the
category. This individual will lead a team of Operations Managers &
Associates, driving excellence in inventory ma nagement, supply chain
optimization, and cross functional collaboration. The role demands a
strategic thinker with strong analytical acumen, leadership experience, and
the ability to align operational processes with business objectives in a fast
paced envi ronment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Category Operations Leadership:
- Oversee the order-to-cash cycle, including contract management, product setup, promotion execution, payments, and funding processes.
- Develop and refine operational frameworks to enhance efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Inventory & Demand Strategy:
- Set strategies for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and replenishment to ensure in-stock excellence across channels.
- Drive Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, aligning inventory levels with sales targets and market trends.
3. Supplier & Logistics Governance:
- Manage relationships with suppliers, logistics partners, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless inbound/outbound operations.
- Resolve systemic bottlenecks and implement preventive measures for timely product delivery.
4. Purchase Order & Inventory Oversight:
- Lead the design of purchase order management systems to balance inventory health (minimize stockouts, reduce overstock).
- Analyze inventory turnover, aging, and excess trends to guide data-driven decision-making.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Category Leaders, Finance, Sales, and Tech teams to align operational plans with business goals.
- Champion process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline workflows.
6. System & Tool Optimization:
- Drive automation by overseeing implementation and utilization of inventory management systems, BI tools, and data models to enhance visibility and forecasting accuracy.
7. Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of Operations Managers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Define KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and identify talent development opportunities.
8. Problem-Solving & Scalability:
- Proactively address operational risks and inefficiencies in resource-constrained environments.
- Design scalable processes to support business growth and market expansion.
What Were Looking For:
1. Experience:
- 7+ years in operations, supply chain, or inventory management, with 3+ years in a leadership role managing managers.
- Proven track record in scaling operations in high-growth or startup environments.
- Expertise in end-to-end supply chain processes (procurement, warehousing, logistics).
2. Skills & Competencies:
- Strategic Leadership: Ability to set vision, lead teams, and influence stakeholders.
- Advanced Analytics: Proficiency in Python, SQL, BI tools (Tableau, Power BI), and inventory modeling.
- Operational Agility: Comfort with ambiguity and rapid change; adept at prioritizing competing demands.
- Collaborative Mindset: Strong cross-functional partnership skills, particularly with senior leadership.
- Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, cost optimization, and P&L impact.
3. Qualifications:
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, or related fields. MBA preferred.
- Certifications in Lean Six Sigma, APICS/CPIM, or S&OP are a plus.
- Fluency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel/data modeling.
