The ESM is looking for a Medical Advisor (2-5 hours per month) to advise on medical matters in relation to its staff members, as provided for in the ESM internal law, and in relation to the medical aspects of its contractual relations with service providers (for disability and life insurance, and health insurance coverage).

The ideal candidate preferably has a medical practice and office situated in or near Luxembourg City, with a maximum distance of 50 km from the ESM Headquarters in Luxembourg.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Medical Advisor will perform the duties assigned to him or her in the ESM Staff Rules and internal policies on a need basis. In particular, the Medical Advisor will be asked to:

• Provide an opinion on health status of ESM staff members and their work arrangements, such as fitness for duty and medically-based recommendations of adaptation of work arrangements (e.g. therapeutic part time, adaptation of work station);
• Carry out medical examinations as appropriate, in cases such as return to work after long medical absence (e.g. following long sick leave, maternity leave) and medical examination during sick leave, at the ESM request;
• Advise on improvements to the preventive medical program of the ESM and on policies or activities to promote the health and well-being of staff members;
• Advise on critical health incident management (for instance, provide advice to the Incident Management Team in the context of a pandemic);
• Perform other medically related duties, as required by the ESM Staff Rules and internal policies;
• The estimated consultation time is on average between 2-5 hours per month.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Registration with a national medical association (Ordre des mdecins)
• A minimum of 10 years of practice as a medical practitioner
• Previous experience in occupational medicine and/or experience working with an international organisation is an asset
• Expertise in managing stakeholders such as management and staff members
• Exposure to international and multicultural environments;
• Practice/medical office situated in or near Luxembourg City, with a maximum distance of 50 km from the ESM Headquarters in Luxembourg.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory;
• Good command of French, German, and/or other European languages is an asset;
• Strong medical evaluation skills;
• Integrity and independence;
• Detail orientation and rigorous approach;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work with information technology communication tools, such as video and teleconferencing.

Place of assignment: Remote work or within your medical practice/office location near Luxembourg City, with occasional consultations on the ESM premises in Luxembourg.

Contract duration: 2-year fixed term contract, with possibility of extension.
