We are hiring an experienced Data Architect to design and implement the next phase of our cloud data infrastructure. This role is central to the transition from legacy components toward a unified architecture built on Azure and Databricks. You will guide platform decisions, ensure strong governance, and collaborate closely with both business and engineering teams.
This is a hybrid position based in the Netherlands (Rotterdam region), combining remote work with regular on-site collaboration.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement a scalable, cloud-native data warehouse architecture (Azure, Databricks)
- Lead the technical migration from Snowflake to Databricks
- Define and maintain governance frameworks for data quality, access control, and compliance
- Translate business requirements into technical designs in collaboration with international stakeholders
- Provide architectural guidance to the internal data engineering team
- Stay up to date with developments in cloud data platforms and share best practices
Your background
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture, with a focus on modern cloud ecosystems
- Proven experience with Azure, Databricks, SQL, DBT and modern ELT/ETL pipelines
- Deep understanding of data modelling and data integration concepts
- Familiarity with data governance practices and regulatory standards
- Able to operate effectively in an international context and work across departments
- Proficient in English and Dutch (minimum B1 level) to engage with local stakeholders
