Thanks to our diversity of skills, talents and cultures, our customers (governments, institutions, space agencies, telecommunications operators), therefore have Space to Connect, Secure & Defend, Observe & Protect, Explore, Travel & Navigate.We are looking for a Senior Physical Architect Engineer.The candidate shall operate inside a system level core team and interface with the Agencies and Customers, therefore he shall have peculiar communication skills, pro-active attitude in facing and solving problems and inclination to team working.He has to have a sufficient cultural base in mechanical and configuration field such to be able to define and manage in a short time a system design of complex satellite/manned module.Key duties:Definition of the System Architecture starting from Customer high level requirementsFlow-down of functional schematics into the physical product architecture, including collection and implementation at system level of sub-system requirementsCoordination and execution of dedicated layout studies aimed to evaluate and implement all physical architectural aspects characterizing complex space systems: volumes, equipment and subsystems accommodations, ergonomics, operability, maintainability, habitability, human interfacesManagement of physical configuration evolution cooperating in finding smart solution in terms of cost and schedule as well as product excellenceEnsure the form&fit compatibility of the complete systemCoordination of CAD Operators activities and prioritiesSupport standardization and adequate re-useDefinition of the mechanical interfaces between the System and the external elements and within the System between different subsystemsControl and maintenance of all internal and external physical interfacesCreation and management of the system Mechanical Interface Control Document (MICD) ensuring the compatibility of the design with the external & internal interfacesElaboration and management of Mass properties budgets (Mass, CoG and MoI)Contribution to System Requirements definition and validationSupport Manufacturing, Assembly and Integration activities including NCR/RFD/FRW resolutionsCapabilities in working inside assigned team acting, if necessary, as first line in support of the Program System Engineer and Program Design AuthoritySkills, experience and qualification required:Master degree in EngineeringPrevious work experience in the requested discipline and field (Space).Strong motivation (passion) in working in space business is duly consideredGood will in working in multinational context and projectsAttitude to problem solving, developing mechanical solutions as best compromise with applicable requirements, schedule and costKnowledge of technical drawing standards and standards documentation for geometric, dimension and toleranceKnowledge of machining and fabrication process (experience even limited in this context is appreciated)Experience (even limited) in Product validation and testKnowledge of Catia (CAD software)Microsoft office suite experienceAttitude toward teaming and multi-disciplinary approachesRespect of Company hierarchy, rules and disciplineAvailable to work in shifts if requested by the ProgramAttitude to work respecting budgets and schedule constraintsExcellent knowledge of English language (spoken and written)Ph.D and/or Master Seed in Space engineering are highly appreciated and duly accounted in the candidate selection.At Thales Alenia Space we provide CAREERS and not only jobs.
