The Grid Connection Manager reports to the Head of Engineering & Grid Onshore and is responsible for the technical and regulatory aspects related to grid connection for wind, PV and BESS projects. Geographies involved for this role are Iberian peninsula, Spain and Portugal. The ideal candidate will be comfortable being the technical expert on electrical matters, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of Engineering & Grid team. He/she will have the ability to identify and solve problems using his/her own expertise, including identifying opportunities to reduce costs and minimize environmental impacts, coupled with the skills to communicate these problems to others who are non- technical.The role also includes discussions with Spanish and Portuguese TSOs and DSOs. This role covers the entire project development, from concept design through to construction, installation & commissioning of assets, and potentially onto operations & maintenance. Experience in regulatory issues and connection processes in Spain and Portugal is required.
Main responsibilities Manage the grid connection processes and applications from initial assessment to final agreement, including engagement with key stakeholders and early identification of potential risks and issues. Analyze potential connection options, associated costs, potential impacts on the program and associated risks. Continuously monitor and implement mitigation measures to manage grid connection risks. To include potential changes in the design, consenting, project programme, Grid Codes. Work closely with local Nadara teams ncluding project managers, project engineers, and business development managers to develop and manage project design for multiple projects. Explore opportunities for synergies and coordination with project teams and other developers in terms of shared solutions. Participate in consultations and forums with government, regulators, TSOs, DSOs and other stakeholders related to the development of onshore renewable energy Providing inputs to investment budgets and supporting documentation Providing inputs to project schedules and planning activities. Support Procurement in establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers for the technology in his/her scope, as well as assisting with cost analysis and providing input regarding price levels of main equipment and installation. Support Procurement in the running of tender processes for Grid connections, by assisting the delivery of technical materials, such as BOQs, layouts, design drawings and calculations for RFQs, as well as reviewing and evaluating tender responses. Discuss with the contractors of all technical issues related to grid connection, definition of substation layout, single line diagrams. Support during the construction of the plants for all the issues related to the grid connection.
Required skills & experience Bachelor or masters in electrical engineering or related discipline. At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role. In-depth knowledge of the Spanish energy industry, including a clear understanding of the key concepts, regulation and stakeholders. Ability to communicate complex information to others in an accessible manner. Ability to be effective in cross-cultural teams. Systematic and detail-oriented approach to deliver high-quality solutions. Excellent communication skills (internal and external stakeholders and partners, technical and non-technical) Full clean driving license Fluent in Spanish and English. Knowledge of MS Office
Desirable skills & experience: Established relationships with key agencies and other stakeholders related to grid connection are highly desirable Knowledge and experience of the connection application process for the Spanish and Portuguese TSO and DSOs, including regional differences Management of consultants and contractors Understanding and experience of environmental and sustainability aspects Additional languages skills
