They are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team in Apeldoorn, Netherlands.
Please note: Applicants who live slightly further from Apeldoorn (e.g. in Zwolle or Utrecht) are encouraged to apply. Hybrid work (3 days remote) is considered as an option.
Job Profile for Financial Accountant
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Finalise the balance sheet with notes by the 4th working day of the month
- Manage and document month-end closing procedures clearly and accurately
- Ensure compliance with group standards, tax regulations, and accounting procedures
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Carry out cost control reviews
- Support the preparation of mandatory group reporting
- Assist with external audit requirements
- Independently manage the full variable payroll process
- Evaluate procedures, eliminate inefficiencies, and minimise financial bottlenecks at month-end
- Identify risks or potential issues and proactively propose solutions
- Collaborate with other finance teams to optimise departmental processes
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports with accuracy and completeness
- Develop BI platform reports
- Ensure all standard management reports are ready by the 6th working day
- Review reports with the finance team to ensure relevance and effectiveness
- Build in-depth knowledge of the business model, including revenue and cost structures
- Take ownership of weekly and monthly financial forecasts
- Work with finance and other departments on ad hoc reports and change management initiatives
- Demonstrate commitment to the company and act as an ambassador for its core values
- Deliver financial administration with excellence, focusing on quality, timely and accurate reporting, and ongoing improvement
- Confidently present results and forecasts to senior management, ask critical questions and support accountability

Candidate Profile for Financial Accountant:
- Relevant degree, and completion/partial completion of relevant accounting body (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent); those with relevant experience will also be considered
- Strong Excel
- Commercially astute; should be able to identify successful profit improvement initiatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible and pragmatic
- Ability to work within a team environment as well as being proactively independent
- Fluency in Dutch and English
