SENIOR ELECTRONICS ENGINEER - BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

Job Overview:

We''re currently recruiting for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join a team working on cutting-edge technologies for space missions. As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering sophisticated electronics systems that are essential for space platforms, including spacecraft, satellites, and supporting ground systems.

In this position, you will take the lead on the design of complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic subsystems, ensuring they meet the exacting standards required for space applications. You will be responsible for designing and integrating hardware components capable of surviving the harsh space environment, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and vibration.

Your responsibilities will include everything from defining hardware architectures and selecting components to validating hardware against rigorous space qualifications and ensuring reliability across the entire mission lifecycle.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with systems engineers, software teams, mechanical engineers, and testing experts to integrate electronics seamlessly into complex space systems.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will be expected to mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring high standards of design and best practices across the team. Your work will directly contribute to some of the most exciting and high-profile projects in the space industry, from satellite communications to space exploration missions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with extensive space hardware experience who wants to take on leadership responsibilities and drive the design and development of next-generation space systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for space systems, including satellite payloads, onboard computers, power systems, and data handling units.
• Define hardware architectures based on system requirements, mission profiles, and space environment constraints (radiation, thermal, vacuum).
• Perform schematic design, component selection, signal integrity analysis, and design for EMC.
• Oversee or conduct PCB layout, integration, and bring-up of custom hardware.
• Develop and execute detailed verification, validation, and qualification plans (including environmental and radiation testing).
• Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ECSS, MIL-STD, and IPC class 3.
• Provide technical documentation including design reports, test procedures, FMEA, and part approval documentation.
• Collaborate closely with systems, mechanical, software, and test teams to ensure seamless integration of electronics into larger space platforms.
• Mentor junior engineers and review their designs to ensure quality and consistency.
• Support project planning, cost estimation, and risk assessment from a hardware perspective.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in electronics design, with at least 3 years in the space or aerospace sector.
• Proven expertise in designing flight hardware for space missions, including understanding of radiation effects, thermal management, and redundancy.
• Proficient in schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence, Mentor).
• Familiarity with low-noise analog design, high-speed digital design, and power electronics.
• Experience with testing and validation in accordance with space environment standards.
• Strong documentation and communication skills; comfortable leading technical reviews.
