SENIOR SUPPLY CHAIN SPECIALIST - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
The Senior Supply Chain Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient operation of global supply chain. This role is responsible for managing critical activities across operational purchasing, inventory management, demand forecasting, sales and operations planning (S&OP), order processing, and export control compliance.
As a key link between internal departments and external partners, the Senior Supply Chain Specialist ensures that materials and products flow seamlessly through the supply chain to meet business objectives and customer expectations.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong execution skills who can manage complex, cross-functional processes in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to balance short-term operational needs with long-term supply chain planning.
They will also ensure full compliance with export regulations and quality system requirements, contributing to both operational excellence and regulatory adherence.
The Senior Supply Chain Specialist will work closely with teams in procurement, logistics, sales, finance, and quality to anticipate demand, manage supplier relationships, support sales order fulfillment, and ensure inventory is optimized for service level and cost efficiency.
Additionally, this individual will play a key role in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing supply chain transparency, agility, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and oversee daily operational purchasing activities, ensuring timely procurement of materials and services.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels in line with demand forecasts, safety stock targets, and lead times.
- Monitor supplier performance and coordinate with vendors to resolve delivery issues and discrepancies.
- Manage replenishment strategies to avoid stock-outs and excess inventory.
- Collaborate with sales, production, and finance teams to develop accurate demand forecasts.
- Contribute to and help facilitate monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
- Analyze historical data, customer trends, and market dynamics to support data-driven decision making.
- Identify gaps between demand and supply and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate the end-to-end order management process, from order entry to delivery.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams (sales, logistics, production) to ensure timely and complete fulfillment.
- Monitor customer orders, handle changes or escalations, and maintain excellent communication with stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate documentation and systems updates for all transactions.
- Ensure adherence to national and international export control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, EU Dual-Use).
- Maintain and audit export-related records and documentation in compliance with legal requirements.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure shipments meet regulatory standards.
- Support the administration of supplier and product quality processes.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with internal quality systems and industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO, GMP).
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and certifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain operations, with a focus on purchasing, planning, and compliance.
- Solid knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) and advanced Excel/data tools.
- Familiarity with export regulations and quality management systems.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Certification such as APICS CPIM/CSCP or equivalent is a plus.
