Profile Summary
The Credit Assessment Department at this International Bank (CAD) functions as an independent credit control entity. Its primary responsibility is to maintain and monitor the quality of the lending book in accordance with bank policies and established procedures. Specifically, CAD will:
- Review and assess credit applications.
- Review and monitor the loan and derivatives portfolio to ensure a balanced and quality-driven asset base.
- Ensure compliance with the bank''s credit policies, regulatory requirements, and local laws.
- Act as a point of reference and maintain a constructive and supportive relationship with branches for all matters related to lending and market-based activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and assess new and increased credit facilities and renewals of existing lines of finance in line with bank policy.
- Monitor the existing portfolio proactively, taking action when necessary to address adverse developments and protect the bank''s position, ensuring the exposure book remains of the highest quality.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Strong credit analysis and research skills, ideally gained in a mainstream banking environment.
- Experience in Corporate Finance lending. Additional experience in Project/Infrastructure Finance and Leverage Finance is an advantage.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Japanese fluency verbal/written
Desirable (Useful but not Essential)
- Degree-educated with a strong ability to learn quickly.
- Previous formal credit control experience or formal training in credit and/or accountancy.
- Knowledge of European legal systems and insolvency law.
- Experience with derivatives products in a credit risk context.
- Knowledge of rating agency methodologies.
