Blackfield Associates are currently partnered with a global pharmaceutical manufacturer to support their search for a Process Engineering Lead to join their project based in Belgium on an initial 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead process engineering for new facility from design through qualification
- Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, and equipment specifications
- Oversee integration of key unit operations (e.g., reactors, crystallizers, centrifuges, spray dryers)
- Ensure compliance with GMP standards and process safety, including solvent and nitrogen handling
- Collaborate with automation (DeltaV), CQV, and construction teams for full system integration
- Support FATs/SATs, vendor coordination, and process risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP)
- Drive project schedule and team deliverables; provide leadership and mentoring
Experience Needed:
- Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- Sufficient years of pharmaceutical process engineering experience
- Strong background in solvent-based systems, spray drying, and inert atmospheres
- Experience with GMP compliance, automation (preferably DeltaV), and capital projects
- Proven leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills
- Fluent in English; Dutch preferred
