JYU is the third largest employer in Central Finland.Position: Post-doctoral ResearcherStarting September 1, 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter, for a fixed-term period of 24 months.The position is located in the Department of Language and Communication Studies, within the research project Negotiating International Criminal Law: A courtroom ethnography of trial performance at the International Criminal Court, financed by the Academy of Finland (2020-2023). The project analyzes how ICC trial actors navigate the tensions faced in their courtroom conduct.The candidate will manage a sub-project examining how trial actors project images of self and other during ICC trial proceedings. Responsibilities include conducting high-quality research, publishing in international refereed journals, and participating in international research networks.Qualifications:PhD in language studies or a related field relevant to the project.Strong background in ethnographic discourse analysis, socio-legal studies, and international criminal law.Good knowledge of French is an asset.The annual gross salary will be approximately 38,800 47,700 EUR, depending on qualifications and experience.
