Bio-Rad in Cressier/Switzerland is looking for a hands-on software architect to join our team. You will develop the technical roadmap and architecture/design of cloud applications. Your duties will include defining software and cybersecurity architecture, stakeholder communication, and solution definition to support business strategies and processes.

Responsibilities

  1. System Design and Development: Creating architectural designs and plans for software systems, ensuring adherence to best practices, non-functional requirements, and SDLC processes in an Agile environment.
  2. Security Frameworks: Good understanding of cybersecurity practices to safeguard information and systems in a regulated environment.
  3. Technical Leadership: Providing guidance and direction to development teams, ensuring standards are followed.
  4. Collaboration: Working with IT, operations, and management to align strategies with organizational goals.
  5. Innovation: Implementing innovative ideas with proof of concepts (POCs).

Impact and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and enforce solution architecture for on-premise middleware software, with a future migration to AWS cloud, ensuring minimal changes needed during transition.
  2. Define, document, and govern software solutions, ensuring compliance with architecture standards and design patterns.
  3. Translate business needs into technical requirements.
  4. Guide the software development process through high-level decision making.
  5. Allocate effort between architecture (40%) and development (60%).
  6. Coach and mentor engineers and team members.
  7. Create and maintain design and code standards.
  8. Act as a technical liaison among project managers, developers, and stakeholders.
  9. Collaborate with third-party vendors for smooth execution.
  10. Travel to vendor sites in Germany once or twice a month.
