ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - ST. NIKLAAS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Electrical Engineer to join our renewable energy team and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge electrical systems for clean energy projects.
In this role, you will work on a variety of renewable energy technologies including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind turbines, energy storage solutions, and grid integration equipment.
The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in designing reliable, efficient, and cost-effective electrical infrastructure that supports sustainable energy generation and distribution. This includes working on power distribution systems, inverters, protection and control systems, and electrical balance of systems (BOS) components.
You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, project managers, and field technicians to ensure that electrical designs meet technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to directly impact the transition to renewable energy by delivering innovative solutions that maximize energy production, improve system reliability, and reduce environmental impact. You will be involved from the early design phase through commissioning and operational support, providing technical expertise to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and validate electrical systems for renewable energy projects including solar PV arrays, wind turbine electrical systems, and energy storage units.
- Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation to support project execution.
- Select appropriate electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, protection relays, cables, and inverters.
- Perform load calculations, power flow studies, fault analysis, and short circuit studies using industry-standard software tools.
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and control engineers to ensure integrated and optimized system design.
- Support procurement and manufacturing activities by providing technical specifications and component evaluations.
- Participate in site inspections, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment during project installation and start-up.
- Ensure compliance with renewable energy standards, electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC), safety regulations, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Analyze and resolve technical issues related to electrical systems in both design and operational phases.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends in renewable energy electrical engineering.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote sustainable engineering solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with a focus on renewable energy or power systems.
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSSE, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including generation, transmission, distribution, and protection.
- Experience with renewable energy technologies such as solar PV, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or microgrids.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards relevant to renewable energy projects (NEC, IEC, IEEE).
- Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and wiring layouts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
The Offer:
- A permanent, full-time employment contract
- A salary & benefits package commensurate with experience
