Role: Technical Product Owner
Type: Day rate contract (200-250/d)
Location: Malaga, (1 day onsite, 4 days from home)
X4 Technology are partnered with a leading IT Consultancy who are offering the opportunity for a Technical Product Owner to join their global banking client.
As a Technical Product Owner, you will lead the full lifecycle of a specific IT product - from analysis and development to maintenance and continuous improvement. You''ll work closely with development squads, shape user stories with business owners, coordinate testing, approve releases, and ensure high technical quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities of the Technical Product Owner include:
Lead digital transformation efforts to improve process efficiency and user value.
Ensure user stories align with a clear, consistent digital user experience.
Convert user stories into technical requirements, identifying impacts and dependencies.
Enforce "definition of ready/done" standards across all deliverables.
Prioritize development tasks and incidents based on urgency and business impact.
Balance new development with issue resolution in daily squad activities.
Manage dependencies within and across IT products.
Oversee acceptance testing to ensure readiness and quality.
Communicate business changes to squads in coordination with product owners.
Approve release plans aligned with priorities and dependencies.
Monitor delivery progress, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Work with architecture leads to track and reduce technical debt
Key Requirements of the Technical Product Owner include:
Bachelors in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
6+ years of relevant IT work experience (user management, scope changes and digital channel projects etc)
5-8 years experience working with technical teams in full stack development (data modelling, cross-platform development (C++, Java, JavaScript etc), implementation integration and enhancement of 3rd party APIs
Experience in large transformation programs within banking clients
Skilled in Angular, Node.js, API development, and integrations
Proficient in unit, performance, and UI testing frameworks
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and data warehousing
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical abilities
Knowledge of Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practices
Self-motivated, adaptable, and thrives in fast-paced environments
