Write the next chapter of your ABB story.This position reports toR&D Team LeadYour role and responsibilitiesWe are looking for an R&D HW Engineer to join our Research and Development - Special Circuit Breaker Team based in Dalmine (IT), developing and integrating embedded electronics for advanced Medium Voltage circuits in our Electrification business. The work model for the role is #LI-Hybrid. This role contributes to the Distribution Solutions Division within the Electrification Business Area in Dalmine.You will be mainly accountable for:Realizing the HW design of architecture and technical details, simulating circuits, and developing electronic projects with a focus on analog, power supply, and power electronics.Optimizing designs by identifying technical, architectural, and circuitry solutions, ensuring high integration with other product components (mechanical, control, sensors).Developing prototypes, implementing drawings, creating comprehensive documentation (from pre-feasibility to detailed design), conducting preliminary tests for validation, analyzing quality and reliability, debugging prototypes, and collaborating on control firmware integration.Preparing technical documentation for production and supporting product maintenance activities as needed.Collaborating closely with other functions and suppliers, and coordinating external hardware-related services when necessary.Qualifications for the roleMasters Degree in Electronic EngineeringUp to 5 years of experience in embedded HW design for industrial applicationsExpertise in laboratory instruments for prototype debugging, integration, and testing; power supply design, signal integrity, analog filteringExperience with EMI design and troubleshootingProficiency with oscilloscopes, function generators, and other test equipment; familiarity with electronic board reworkKnowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes is a plusProactive, innovative, with strong negotiation and networking skillsFluent in English and Italian, both written and spokenPositive attitude, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and commitment to results in both local and international contextsMore about usABB''s Distribution Solutions Division enhances the efficient and reliable distribution, protection, and control of power by improving electric power quality and strengthening grid resilience.
