Senior Data Engineer (Data Mesh Focus)
We''re working with a leading data and analytics team within the customer domain that''s looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to support the transformation of existing data into scalable data products - key to enabling a data mesh architecture.
You''ll play a vital role in building and enhancing data pipelines, ensuring high data quality, modelling, implementing access management, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and improve ingestion and transformation pipelines
- Develop data products to support a data mesh architecture
- Implement data quality checks and robust access management
- Collaborate with data engineers and stewards across different teams
- Support process improvement and tech stack reviews
- Work closely with stakeholders including software engineers and product owners
- Produce clear, accessible documentation to ensure discoverability
Key Requirements:
- Strong experience with data products and data mesh : from levels and schemas to data contracts and access control
- Advanced BigQuery skills , including Analytics Hub for data access management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to advocate for the data mesh and support technical enablement
- Solid GCP experience, especially with Cloud Run (jobs), Workflows; Data flow is a bonus
- Experience with CI/CD and DataOps: GitHub Actions, observability/monitoring, Terraform (IaC)
- Proficiency in dbt for data modeling and transformation
- Advanced SQL skills, especially for pipeline optimization
- Proven experience managing technical stakeholders and collaborating across disciplines
