About the Role Equipment & Assets Manager
As the Equipment & Assets Manager, youll be responsible for managing rolling equipment and related assets across all distribution centerssuch as forklifts, pallets, trailers, and other logistics infrastructure. You will lead a team that plays a crucial role in the setup, maintenance, and strategic expansion of the supply chain. Fleet management will be a core focus of this position, requiring deep expertise in large-scale transportation asset oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Growth: Contribute to the expansion of the distribution network to 40+ locations in the coming years (3 new DCs in 2025, 4 more in 2026).
- Equipment & Asset Management: Ensure lifecycle management, performance, and cost-efficiency of all rolling assets.
- Facility Management Structure: Oversee a centralized facility function working with regional coordinators and local teams.
- Material Handling & Fleet Management: Manage 1,700 trailers, 4,000 material handling units, and large volumes of pallets and roll containers.
- Fleet Optimization: Design strategies for maximizing uptime and cost-effectiveness.
- Supplier Management: Maintain strong supplier relationships for equipment procurement and maintenance.
- Contract Management: Collaborate with procurement to centralize contracts and optimize supplier arrangements.
- Data-Driven Maintenance Strategy: Analyze trends, monitor uptime, and coordinate with operations.
- Project Management: Oversee strategic site selection, construction alignment, operational planning, and asset lifecycle strategies.
- Innovation & Sustainability: Lead advancements in mechanization, battery technologies, and forward-looking business cases.
Team & Collaboration
You will lead a small, high-impact team of four professionals responsible for forecasting, operational efficiency, procurement, and maintenance strategy. Although regional facility coordinators fall outside of your direct scope, youll work closely with them. Collaboration spans four supply chain regions across Europe and includes coordination with external logistics partners. While certain operational elements are outsourced, the organization maintains firm control over logistics execution.
Candidate Profile
- Background: Education in technical or facility management with a strong grounding in logistics or supply chain.
- Fleet Management Expertise: Solid experience with transportation assets like trailers and material handling equipment.
- Personality: Structured, customer-focused, solution-oriented, and pragmatic.
- Ambition: Future-minded professional committed to both organizational and personal development.
- People Management Skills: Able to mentor and guide new team members in a dynamic setting.
- Experience: At least 10 years in a similar role, ideally within large-scale retail logistics.
- Languages: Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
