You will own and execute the technical vision and system design decisions related to product development, deployment, and operations. Collaborating with other engineers and leaders, you will design new cloud-native solutions and rearchitect existing systems.As a Staff Software Engineer, proficiency in both front-end and back-end development, modern system design patterns (such as event-driven, DDD, microservices), and familiarity with our current tech stack (GoLang, ReactJS, NodeJS, gRPC, GraphQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, Docker on Azure) are essential.This role is based in Calgary, AB, with in-office work and 20% flexibility for remote work.Duties and ResponsibilitiesYour primary responsibility is to improve the software engineering team through mentorship, sharing knowledge, and role modeling.Enforce best coding practices and advocate for continuous improvement, ensuring the codebase quality improves each sprint.Create tools and templates that simplify development processes for the team.Scale our platform to handle over 1,000 times the current load while maintaining 100% uptime in the coming years.QualificationsOver 10 years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, with at least 3 years at a staff engineer level or higher, and a curiosity to learn new technologies.Mastery of SDLC, SOLID principles, TDD, clean code, and clean architecture, with over 10 years of experience.At least 5 years of experience with modern technologies such as GoLang, GraphQL, gRPC, microservices, and NoSQL; ability to learn quickly is valued.More than 10 years of experience applying cloud development patterns and best practices, including leadership roles.Proficiency in cloud architecture and automated release pipelines, with over 7 years of experience.7+ years of experience with API-first design, loosely coupled systems, and domain-driven design.Strong skills in managing technical debt and improving code, processes, and teams.A commitment to quality, testing, and leaving systems better than found.About LodgeLinkLodgeLink, a Black Diamond Group company headquartered in Calgary, is transforming workforce travel through innovative technology.
