Processing Technician Biotech Circular Innovation A growing biotechnology company is seeking a skilled Processing Technician to support the development and optimization of sustainable oil and fat production from agri-food waste streams. The role is focused on substrate pre-treatment, fermentation support, and downstream processing, with an emphasis on both enzymatic and chemical methodologies. About the Company We develop yeast-based oils and fats using circular, waste-derived feedstocks. These products are designed as functional alternatives to palm and other vegetable oils used in food, cosmetics, and home care applications. Our production platform aims to reduce environmental impact by minimizing land use, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and addressing food waste through upcycling. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will support operations across the bioprocessing chain, including: Pre-treatment of feedstocks using enzymatic and chemical methods to enhance sugar availability Solids handling and preparation (e.g., grinding, screening, grading) for optimized processing Separation and purification techniques, including filtration and centrifugation Analytical support using HPLC and GC for monitoring and quality control Collaboration with RD teams on process development and scale-up activities Candidate Profile We are looking for a hands-on technician with relevant experience in biotechnology or industrial processing environments. The role requires both independent work and effective collaboration with technical teams. Qualifications: 37 years of experience in a processing or technical role within biotechnology, fermentation, or related industries Proficient in pre-treatment technologies and downstream processing methods Familiar with fermentation principles and process integration Skilled in analytical techniques including HPLC and/or GC Comfortable working in a lab and pilot-scale setting Strong attention to detail and process documentation Fluent in English; working knowledge of Dutch is an advantage
