Job Opportunity: Research & Innovation Engineer at Lima (Enovis group)Lima (Enovis group) is seeking a Research & Innovation Engineer to join the Materials Development team within the R&I department in San Daniele (UD), Italy. This role is pivotal in supporting the research, development, and characterization of advanced materials for orthopedic implants used in joint arthroplasty. The engineer will collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists on designing, testing, and validating new materials and processing techniques, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and business goals. This position offers a chance to contribute to innovative medical device technologies and enhance patient outcomes worldwide.Main ResponsibilitiesParticipate in materials research and development aligned with the company''s product roadmap and vision.Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate properties of candidate materials, documenting results comprehensively.Contribute to material selection and characterization for new product development, ensuring standards compliance (e.g., ISO, ASTM).Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new materials into product designs and manufacturing processes seamlessly.Stay informed about emerging materials technologies relevant to orthopaedic implants and identify innovation opportunities.Maintain Enovis proprietary materials portfolio and support new product development applications.Prepare technical reports, presentations, and research publications.Ensure compliance with quality system regulations and information security policies.Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in Mechanical, Material Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields is required. A minimum of two years'' experience in a similar role or academic research involving mechanical, biomedical, or materials testing is essential. Knowledge of material characterization techniques, data analysis, and experience in regulated medical device environments are highly desirable.Additional RequirementsProficiency in Microsoft Office.Fluent in Italian and English.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.Desired CharacteristicsMasters degree in relevant fields; experience in orthopaedic or biomedical research preferred.Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, additive manufacturing, machining, finishing.Understanding of biocompatibility and biological interactions of biomaterials.Publications or patents in relevant areas are a plus.Applicants are encouraged to attach their CVs in English.
