This position serves as an Event Services Assistant and reports directly to the Event Services Supervisor. Responsible for performance of setting up and taking down of interior and exterior events for the college which includes but is not limited to banners, signs, furniture, tables, chairs, stages, dance floors, drapes and equipment and/or assisting with office moves and various other asset relocation work request.WORK PERFORMEDAssist in the performance of event set-ups and furniture/asset relocation requestRespond to work order request dispatched by the facilities office.Check and maintain the arrangement and neatness of lounge furniture.Operate college vehicles such as golf cart, john deer gators and box truck to transport college assets to on or offsite locations.Assist other areas such as environmental services, mailroom, grounds and general maintenance on days that have lighter workloads.Respond to furniture requests by college staff. Assist with locating furniture in general inventory, referring special requests to appropriate personnel; walks staff through furniture storage area(s) to identify and select requested furniture; assists event services staff in the move of furniture and that all items are moved in a safe manner and arrives undamaged.Assist supervisor in maintaining furniture records and inventory. Maintain daily records of furniture relocated, stored, or discarded; signs off on work orders as completed; maintain a daily log of related activities and other records as required.Keep an accurate inventory of the tables and chairs and other event services furniture and equipment.Act in the role of essential personnel (available for emergencies (snow days, storms); may use medium sized equipment (bobcat) to clear sidewalks from snow.**Requirements**:A High School diploma or equivalent.One year of related experience in event set-up and furniture moving in a school environment is preferred.Good working knowledge of OSHA safety regulationsAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Valid Maryland driver''s license.**The selected candidate will be given a post-offer pre-employment physical to ensure fitness to perform the essential functions of this position.**Pre-employment and post-offer criminal background check is a condition of employment**Additional Information**:**Hours Per Week**: 40**Work Schedule**: 8:30am 5:00pm**Compensation**: $27,729 plus excellent health insurance, paid leave and tuition reimbursement**Grade**: 4**Open Until Filled**:**Best Consideration**: May 26, 2017Howard Community College (HCC) is an Equal Employment Opportunity & Affirmative Action employer & values diversity within its faculty, staff & student population.
