IT Team Manager
Small Rotterdam-based business requires Netherlands/EU-based IT Team Manager

The successful candidate will join:
- A Netherlands-based team of 3 executives and
- A UK-based team of 2 non-executives, support staff and IT team.
Nature of business: financial data collection, checking, storage and dissemination; highly regulated
Intention to fast-track into senior management team
Applicants must:
- Have proven track record of successful IT team leadership and on-time delivery.
- Be legally permitted to work in the Netherlands
- Be strong on Information security
- Be familiar with the use of modern AI tools and preferably used to working on AI-based projects
- Be fluent in English and preferably fluent in Dutch
- Have strong academic record: 2.1 degree or better
Detailed Description
Were an IT business that is small (3 executive directors and 2 non-executive directors), highly regulated and based in the Netherlands.
- This is a full-time role
- We need someone in and legally able to work in the Netherlands; our office is in Rotterdam, but we use this mainly for management meetings, so, as long as Rotterdam is reasonably easily reachable, exact location of candidate can be flexible.
- We need someone who has a very strong technical background with respect to the below and that wants to get into management of a regulated business, whilst still being able and willing to help with all and any form of IT work; this is an intensive/progressive learning role that is in support of the whole team.
The successful person would need:
- To be familiar with the use of modern AI tools and work on AI-based projects
- To work closely with a UK-based IT team.
- To meet the technical specification below.
- To be highly motivated and be able to work unsupervised; modern, professional, senior management-level response times.
- We need someone dedicated to the role that really cares; as such it would be our intention that the right candidate with targets met would buy into the business; equity deal.
- To be good with administrative tasks; get them done
- To be good at documentation production; not a big part of the role, but needs to be capable with high standard of English.
- Capable of strong understanding in areas like information security
- Fluent Dutch-speaker very useful
Technical Specification
Our main system is a large data processing and query system, which processes, validates, stores, and retrieves large volumes of data.
Most of the data is in the form of very large XML files.
It is written in C#/.NET and runs in Azure.
It uses:
- GoAnywhere SFTP & Gateway on Windows VMs for ingestion and query
- Azure Service Bus for messaging and orchestration
- Azure Functions to interact with Service Bus and initiate processes
- Azure Batch for processing
- Azure SQL for database storage
- Azure Storage Accounts for file storage
- Azure Web Applications for UI
Our back-office functionality is provided by Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
Our systems are clearly cloud-based; we do not have any significant in-house IT infrastructure beyond staff machines.
Our development team uses Azure Devops to support Scrum practices, keep code repositories, and to build and deploy code.
Training and support will be provided, but ultimately the knowledge and understanding we consider important to the technical operation of our business is:
- To understand the business context we operate in
- To understand the technical requirements of the regulations we operate under
- To understand the technical implementation of our solution and to be able to engineer change to it if necessary
- To understand our policies and procedures
- To understand our requirements and obligations for ICT security, and how they ought to be implemented, and to remain current in this understanding
- To understand our relationship with our regulator, and what is required to keep that healthy
- To understand our business ambitions and limitations, and to be able to work to achieve the former within the latter
