About the client and location The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agencys (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESAs largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production. Tasks and activities The scope of work will include: Assist in the definition and assessment of EMC design, performance, and verification. Contribute to the definition and assessment of harness design, performance, manufacturing, and verification requirements. Participate in harness reviews and assessments from early design to manufacturing, verification, and integration. Engage in feasibility studies, project reviews, and evaluation of procurement proposals. Aid in the evaluation of harness test results, non-conformances, including NCR review and requests for waivers and deviations. Facilitate the resolution of critical harness development problems. Oversee the inspection of harness manufacturing activities and facilities, including off-site locations (mainly in Europe). Collaborate with technical officers in the planning, definition, initiation, and management of R&D activities. Contribute to the creation or tailoring of electronic CAD models of harnesses. Assist technical officers in software maintenance, updates, and bug-fixing (in scripts and source codes). Document the work, including applied methods and techniques. Participate in the preparation of standards and handbooks related to harnesses. Skills and experience The following skills and experience are mandatory: University Degree (Masters) or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering, with at least 4 years of proven experience. Industrial or Agency experience in spacecraft EMC system and equipment engineering. Profound expertise in harness electrical & mechanical engineering. Acquaintance with industrial EMC practices and review processes. Experience in assessing EMC specifications, EMC control plans, test and verification plans, EMC test results, and EMC analyses Successful EMC troubleshooting. Demonstrated expertise in EMC analysis. Proven practical experience in EMC testing. Acquaintance with relevant EMC and Harness standards (ECSS, MIL, IPC). Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment. Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. The following skills and experience would be highly desirable: Expertise with analogue electronics design or electromagnetic simulation. Good understanding of harness manufacturing, assembly, integration and verification/testing activities and related processes. Experience of working on projects within industry. Why should you apply?
