Deputy Managing Director (Managing Director Designate)
About the role
After almost 30 years as co-founder, Engineering Director and Managing Director, our MD Alan Walker is preparing to retire.
We are therefore looking for a commercially driven and strategically minded Deputy Managing Director to join the senior leadership team. This role is designed as a succession plan, with the successful candidate expected to transition into the position of Managing Director within 12 months.
During this transition period, the successful candidate will receive full training and mentorship, working closely alongside the current Managing Director to gain in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the business.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales and commercial leadership, with a proven ability to lead teams, drive growth, and manage cross-functional operations.
Key Responsibilities (Deputy Phase)
- Work closely with the current Managing Director to understand the companys strategic goals, operational structure, and client base.
- Support in driving commercial and sales strategy across departments.
- Assist with high-level decision-making, planning, and implementation of key projects.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, key clients, and external partners.
- Contribute to financial planning, budgeting, and business performance analysis.
- Prepare to assume full leadership responsibilities within 12 months.
Key Responsibilities (Upon Promotion to Managing Director)
- Lead the overall business strategy and execution.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, and client satisfaction through strong commercial leadership.
- Oversee all departments: Technical, Sales, Admin, and Accounts.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing senior leadership team.
- Report directly to the Board of Directors and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Ensure compliance, governance, and adherence to industry best practices.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: At least 10 years in leadership roles with a strong emphasis on sales and commercial operations, ideally within the technology, marine, or service sectors.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex operations.
- Sales Acumen: Track record of growing revenue, leading sales teams, and winning key accounts.
- Skills: Strong analytical thinking, interpersonal communication, and business acumen.
- Languages: Fluent in English; Spanish or other European languages a plus.
- Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Mallorca.
