About the Head of Credit Decisions and Credit Risk function

As Head of Credit Decisions and Credit Risk, youll manage a team of about 35 people. You are part of the Management Team of Record Credits and report directly to the CEO.

Key Challenges of the function

  1. You contribute to define the strategy and vision of Record Credits, in particular the development of Record Credits Growth Plan in order to take the company to a higher level in terms of performance.
  2. In collaboration with the Operational Manager Credit Decisions, you improve the overall speed of credit production and upgrade the efficiency of the whole credit approval process end to end, with a special attention to straight through processing, without compromising on quality and credit risk awareness.
  3. You lead the whole change management process, from identifying solutions for faster and more efficient and automated decision-making to making sure people adopt the new ways of working in order to achieve the expected results.
  4. You make sure the necessary expertise and competences are present in the team to effectively work along the adapted processes and deliver faster decisions in a more efficient way. You instill a continuous improvement mindset in the team.
  5. You ensure that your entire team, and in particular your direct reports, get the necessary tools, coaching, and training in order to be fully future-proof, with a special attention to people management skills.
  6. You take on sponsorship for your Business Managers Credit Risk regarding credit related projects, acceptance policies, and related processes & procedures, to ensure that we stay within credit risk appetite statements and to keep NPL-portfolio under control.
  7. You represent the management team of Record Credits towards INGs Credit Risk Management department and defend our specific Credit Risk characteristics and Risk-reward DNA.
  8. You ensure senior level contact and represent the first line of defense towards regulators and stakeholders, also in case of internal audits or onsite inspections.
  9. You liaise with our Sales Department and with our broker network.
  10. You chair various Credit Decision Committees and take an active role in the Portfolio Monitoring Committee.

Required Experiences

Must-have

  1. Strong expertise in credit analysis (mortgage is a must, consumer is nice to have).
  2. Exposure to broader risk topics (modelling, regulatory reporting, portfolio management).
  3. Extensive experience (co-)making credit decisions (ideally mortgage and consumer loans).
  4. Team leadership experience, managing managers.
  5. Experience in managing stakeholders (senior level).
  6. Experience dealing with transformation, process improvement, implementation of new tools, new organizational structure
  7. Fluency in NL/FR/ENG: many employees/brokers do not speak English.

Assets/Nice to have

  1. Experience with other risk related functions: compliance, legal, operations, commercial,
  2. Experience working within a B2B2C environment, with brokers ideally.
  3. Experience in a subsidiary of a larger group with some functions done at group level.
  4. Member of a Management Team, and as such collectively responsible for strategy definition and P&L.

Competences

  1. Strong risk competence: ability to make good credit risk decisions, to continuously improve risk assessing processes for faster decisions while maintaining the quality of the decisions. Ability to ensure a continuous feedback loop to improve decisions.
  2. Result orientation and business acumen: drive to make good decisions fast, and ability to find the right balance between risk management and the need to be in the market (i.e. deliver profitable -volume).
  3. Ability to deal with ambiguity: need to be business-min
