Our client is an international federation operating in the field of sustainable development. Their main mission is to offer a wide scope of services to their members, ranging from monitoring EU legislation developments to enhancing the exchange of best practice through the organisation of workshops and conferences. They are located in the city centre of Brussels and count +/- 100 staff. They are today looking to recruit a diligent Finance Director. Purpose of the role As member of the Management Board, developing, implementing and reporting on the financial strategy of the association Day to day managing and supervising the operations of the financial and accounting department Overseeing the smooth running of the IT, legal & facilities departments Leading a team of 11 staff, including 4 direct reports Main responsibilities will be: Finance & Accounting: Developing the financial strategy Preparing the yearly budget and forecast in close collaboration with Department Heads (e.g., HR) Conducting financial risk assessments Overseeing the work of the team of accountants, including analytical accounting processes Preparing financial reports and dashboards, overseeing internal audits Driving change amongst the team (on processes, new IT tools, etc.) IT, Legal & Facilities: Overseeing the operations of each of these departments Supervising the Heads of Departments Providing support and strategy oversight on critical matters Ensuring best practices are enforced in each department: for instance, making sure legal regulatory compliance is met, paying attention to cybersecurity & digital transformation, managing vendors & related contracts Board & Management: Attending and taking an active part in regular Board Meetings in order to contribute to the overall associations strategy Reporting on the departments activities & results Presenting financial reports Answering questions from Board Members Advising on financial strategy in order to meet the associations objectives, in close collaboration with the Secretary General The ideal candidate should have the following profile: Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Commercial Sciences Fluent English & French ( C1 minimum - spoken and written) At least 5 years experience as CFO/Finance Director, ideally acquired in an international environment Experience in an association or in the non-for-profit sector is a huge asset Financial expertise is required including advanced Excel knowledge Knowledge of Belgian financial regulations is required Strong analyticalskills Experienced leader, used to driving change amongst team members Strong communication, reporting and presentation skills Cultural sensitivity Comfortable working in a human-sized organisation Offer: Starting date: to be discussed A permanent, full-time contract A competitive salary with a complete benefits package including luncheon vouchers ( 8,00), health and group insurance, 100% reimbursement of transport costs Homeworking schedule: several days of homeworking/week Working week: 40h00/week, 32 holidays days (+ additional days) Location: the company is located in the city centre of Brussels and is reachable by public transport This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-changing organisation and a truly multicultural environment The opportunity to work in an environment that truly makes a difference (sustainable development)
