Our diverse skills, talents, and cultures enable us to serve customers including governments, institutions, space agencies, and telecommunications operators, providing Space to Connect, Secure & Defend, Observe & Protect, Explore, Travel & Navigate.We are seeking a Data Handling Subsystem Engineer.The candidate will be assigned to one of the following roles:Technical responsible for the DH subsystem of the European Large Lunar Lander (EL3) Mission, which will deploy large payloads to the Lunar surface.Technical responsible for the DH subsystem of the Gateway Airlock Module (GAM), providing EVA capability to the Gateway Cis-Lunar Station as part of the ARTEMIS Programme.Technical responsible for the DH subsystem of the Deep Space Platform study, supporting relay communication infrastructure around Mars.The key duties of a DHS engineer include:Specification and design of DH subsystems and units, including On-Board Computer (OBC), Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), and Mass Memory Unit (MMU);Specification and design of electrical and communication interfaces;Specification and design of on-board communication protocols such as MIL1553 Bus, CAN Bus, SpaceWire, TTEthernet, Wizarlink, RS232, RS442, RS485, SPI, I2C, etc.;Procurement of DH subsystem and units from suppliers or subcontractors;Definition and specification of DH test benches for subsystem validation;Specification of Processor In the Loop (PIL), Hardware In the Loop (HIL), and Closed Loop tests;Support for Subsystem Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) activities;Support for requirements verification and non-compliance resolution;Participation in technical and managerial meetings and formal reviews with the customer.Required skills, experience, and qualifications:Masters degree in Electronic Engineering, possibly focusing on Embedded Systems or Computer Science;Professional experience of at least 4 years in DHS design or testing at subsystem or unit level;Knowledge in avionics architecture for trade-off analysis and design solution selection;Experience with multicore space-qualified microprocessors (LEON, PPC, etc.) and development environments (GRMON, UBOOT, ECLIPSE);Knowledge of space-qualified components used in DH units (Memories, FPGA, ADC, DAC, etc.);Proficiency in structured programming languages (C, C++, Python) and basic knowledge of Assembler;Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTEMS, VxWorks);Knowledge of VHDL and FPGA synthesis tools;Understanding of ECSS and CCSDS standards relevant to DH and communication systems;Familiarity with modeling tools such as Matlab/Simulink and PSpice;Proficient English language skills are required;Willingness to work abroad temporarily;Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures;Strong communication skills for presenting and discussing solutions with clients.At Thales Alenia Space, we offer careers, not just jobs.
