Reporting to the Director, Financial Operations, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the effective management of the general accounting, order to cash, general ledger, financial reporting activities and cash flow. The incumbent will also ensure the protection of corporate assets and provide support to Business units financial analysts in achieving business results.**Main responsibilities**:- Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements while respecting all reporting deadlines by overseeing General Ledger and financial reporting processes.- Oversee the General Accounting and Order to Cash functions, ensuring the timely and accurate dissemination of pertinent information.- Apply accounting rules and determine implications for the business (e.g. Revenue recognition, Pension and post retirement costs, deferred taxes S). Revenue Center of Excellence point person.- Ensure the protection of corporate assets and resources through adherence of policies and procedures and internal control as well as compliance to Sarbanes Oxley.- Ensure new policies & procedures are rolled out to organization in manner that ensures they are fully understood and implemented.- Review and has signing authority for contracts, provide guidance to Business Unit financial analysts for related contracts.- Responsible for achieving results in a matrix organization including, Global Financial Services (GFS), accounting team and GFS Order to Cash team.- Prepare the company for rigorous internal/external audits as well as quarterly reviews.- Responsible for Cash flow monitoring, partnering with corporate treasury & suggesting areas for improvement.- Develop, coach and sustain the team showing a disciplined work ethic, forward orientation and customer focused service excellence.- Identify and support opportunities for continuous process improvements in processes including non-finance, multi departmental issues.- Take initiatives to resolve issues, propose optional solutions, drive productivity and efficiently use resources.QualificationsBachelor degree in Finance or Accounting- Minimum of 10 years of finance experience in a multi-national corporation- Accounting designation: CA, CPA, CGA, or CMA- Knowledge of Canadian taxation environment- Experience of applying U.S. GAAP to business scenarios- Ability to establish strong relationships inside and outside the company (actuaries, external auditors, peers in Finance community) and leadership in a multi-functional finance team- Understanding of organizational dynamics of a global corporation, operating culture, effective work styles and achieving results in a changing environment- Very good communication and presentation skills in English and French (oral and written)- Experience with SAP (or other ERP) and strong Excel
