As a division of Smiths Group plc, we combine technical expertise and innovation to deliver exceptional engineering solutions worldwide The Opportunity Lead the operational strategy and execution for Smiths Interconnects French manufacturing facility, a centre of excellence in high-reliability RF, microwave, and connector solutions. This role is critical in maintaining world-class standards in safety, quality, cost control , and on-time delivery across a complex, global value chain. The site supports mission-critical applications in aerospace, defence, and industrial markets where failure is not an option. The Plant Manager will lead a team of 100+ people on site and will drive all areas of operational and commercial performance. The business demands agility and responsiveness, with manufacturing covering small and medium batch activity, encompassing over 7,000 part numbers. We produce 270,000 connectors per year and millions of sockets, with in excess of 3,000 annual inspections to ensure we adhere to the very highest levels of quality. Key Responsibilities Full P&L responsibility for the site, leading all production and support functions. Drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC) KPIs. Implement robust continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, visual management) and inventory management strategies. Align site operations with Smiths global supply chain and customer service standards , especially for key accounts. Lead employee engagement, development , and a culture of operational excellence aligned with The Smiths Way. Champion strategic capital investment and process capability enhancements. Candidate Profile Engineering or Science degree with broad, hands-on knowledge of manufacturing operations (preferably in connectors/electronics/precision engineering). Proven leadership experience in multi-disciplinary plant or site management , ideally in a global matrix organization. Fluent in French and English , with excellent interpersonal, stakeholder, and union relations skills. Experienced in quality/regulatory systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001). Analytical, results-driven leader with demonstrated success in cost reduction, productivity improvement , and customer satisfaction . Certifications and Standards Site is certified to ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Must be adept in regulatory and compliance audits, safety/environmental standards, and lean manufacturing.
