ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a Global Business Service Centre based in Barcelona supporting the EMEA region. The General Ledger Accountant is a key role for the organization and will be in charge of performing accounting and administrative functions in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting and financial records. Functional areas of responsibility may include accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and taxes.
The main function will be:
Monthly, quarterly and year-end closing
Balance sheet analysis and reconciliation
Preparation of accruals, prepayments, payroll and record of journal entries
Resolution of accounting discrepancies
Registration and maintenance of fixed assets
Manage and reconciliation of intercompany activity
Manage taxes of the different subsidiaries (VAT, CIT, transfer pricing, etc)
Functional areas of responsibility may include accounts payable and accounts receivable
Ensure that companys internal accounting policy and procedures are applied and followed across
the different departments
Prepare and present Financial Reports, meeting all financial reporting deadlines
Implementation of new finance tools and systems
Participate in special GBSB projects and ad hoc reporting as requested
QUALIFICATIONS /EXPERIENCE
High level of English; other European languages beneficial
Knowledge of bookkeeping processes
Minimum 3 year experience in general accounting
Experience with Shared Service Centers (SSC) or Global Business Services (GBS) environment
Strong knowledge in SAP, MS Office in particular Excel
Ability to travel as required
