HSE ENGINEER (Industrial Sector)
MISSION STATEMENT:
Reporting directly to the HSE Coordinator, the HSE Engineer''s mission is to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace within our industrial operations. This role is dedicated to proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and driving continuous improvement in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance to protect our employees, assets, and the planet.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES:
The HSE Engineer in an industrial setting plays a critical role in safeguarding employees, protecting the environment, and ensuring operational compliance. His/her responsibilities will include:
Developing and Implementing HSE Programs and Policies: Creating, reviewing, and updating health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and management systems to align with company objectives and regulatory requirements. Support HSE in ISO 14001 audits and internal audits.
Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis: Conducting thorough risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analyses (JSAs) to identify potential dangers in processes, machinery, and work environments. This includes recommending and implementing engineering controls and other mitigation measures.
Main contact with Production and Maintenance to coordinate different mandatory external trainings: forklifts, ATEX, platforms, hoist....
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the company''s operations strictly adhere to all relevant local, national, and international HSE laws, regulations, and standards. This involves staying updated on legislative changes and coordinating with regulatory bodies.
Incident Management: Leading or assisting in the investigation of accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents to determine root causes. Developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence, and maintaining accurate incident records.
Audits and Inspections: Conducting regular HSE audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify non-compliance, unsafe conditions, and areas for improvement.
Training and Awareness: Developing and delivering HSE training programs for employees and contractors on topics such as on boarding, emergency, LOTO, confined spaces, safety protocols, emergency procedures, proper use of PPE, and environmental best practices. Promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Emergency Preparedness and Response: Developing, implementing, and testing emergency response plans (e.g., fire drills, spill response, evacuation procedures) to ensure the company is prepared for unforeseen events.
Environmental Management: Managing and minimizing the environmental impact of industrial activities, including waste management, pollution control, resource conservation, and ensuring compliance with environmental permits.
HSE Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on key HSE performance indicators (KPIs). Preparing regular reports for management and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with various departments (e.g., operations, engineering, maintenance) to integrate HSE considerations into all aspects of the business. Effectively communicating HSE requirements and fostering cross-functional teamwork.
HSE Integration in Design: Reviewing plans for new machinery, equipment, and processes to ensure they meet safety and environmental requirements from the design phase.
