The position is based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy, within the Maritime, Transport and Insurance Law Branch (LEGM).THE ROLEKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)Provide comprehensive and timely advice on complex legal matters related to construction and engineering law, lease contracts, real estate law, insurance, and commercial law.Review and draft legal documents, including agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and jurisprudence.Prepare legal opinions, reports, and memoranda.Interpret WFPs internal Regulations, Rules, and Policies.Advise country offices and HQ units on legal issues.Assist in commodity management actions and loss prevention.Contribute to the preparation of agreements and participate in negotiations and dispute settlements.Identify potential liabilities and assist in risk management.Support legal analysis and solutions through evidence briefs.Assist senior Legal Officers in servicing committees and working groups.Engage in dispute resolution and liaise with external counsel as needed.Represent WFP in administrative or tribunal proceedings and arbitration.Support negotiations and settlement of claims involving WFP and its personnel.Build productive legal partnerships within WFP and across the UN system.Contribute to legal strategy development and innovative legal modalities.Provide legal support to organizational committees and represent WFP at meetings and conferences.Incorporate gender perspectives in all work areas.Perform other duties, such as facilitating training sessions for the legal team.QUALIFICATIONS & KEY REQUIREMENTSEducationAdvanced university degree in law or a law degree with additional training in private commercial, construction/engineering, and real estate law.ExperienceMinimum of 5 years relevant experience in construction, engineering, or related legal fields.#J-18808-Ljbffr
