About the role
As Portfolio CFO, you are a key sparring partner to both our internal team and the finance teams of our portfolio companies. You combine deep financial expertise with business insight, enabling operational excellence and unlocking growth opportunities. Whether guiding a company through a post-acquisition transition, building financial foundations from scratch, or challenging the status quo with sharp analysis you play a vital role in accelerating value creation across a diverse range of enterprises in different sectors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing a solid financial basis for each portfolio company: accounting, controlling, dashboards (KPI setup and reporting), and treasury;
- Constructing a scalable model for new portfolio companies: standardizing policies related to reporting, accounting, and controlling to enable fast and qualitative post-merger integrations;
- Professionalizing the finance and accounting departments of each portfolio company in some cases from scratch, requiring a hands-on approach;
- Steering accounting activities and being willing to dive into the books when needed to resolve issues or support the team;
- Implementing digital tools and systems together with the partners to ensure access to accurate financial information and drive impact (e.g., digital accounting tools, ERP systems, Bright Analytics);
- Taking on interim CFO roles for select companies as needed;
- Leading the post-merger integration of acquired companies from a finance and accounting perspective, including accounting handover;
- Identifying and implementing financial improvement projects within portfolio companies;
- Presenting financial figures and insights to the board of each portfolio company and to Companions'' management.
You are the perfect fit if you
- Hold a master''s degree in finance, business economics, commercial engineering, or a related field, with an excellent academic track record;
- Have 6 to 10 years of work experience in accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting;
- Are results-driven and motivated to go the extra mile;

- Are bold and dare to disagree;
- Are fluent in both spoken and written Dutch and English, French is a plus.
