What you do on a typical day
As a Transport Planner, your primary responsibility will be organizing the departure of goods from our distribution centre to over 2,000 stores across 100 countries. You will plan road transportation (also for air cargo), considering all relevant factors such as: forwarder instructions, capacity for external build-up of ULDs, transit times, haulier performance, road restrictions, warehouse production and loading schedules, sales shipments, special sorting''s, special cycles, etc.
You will then monitor all departures from the distribution centre and ensure cargo clearance for accurate arrival times and locations. Following up with agents to confirm safe and timely delivery will also be part of your role.
You will collaborate with the Corporate Transportation Department to reduce costs, improve service, and ensure maximum transportation volume in the most profitable way possible.
Other responsibilities:
Daily communication with freight forwarders for operational requests
Coordination with the Distribution Hub Operations Department to resolve incidents
Understanding warehouse systems and schedules to adjust store production and departures
Resolution and monitoring of incidents related to shipments (in handling, in transit, final destination, customs, stores, etc.)
Control and management of transport costs
Ongoing communication with HQ in Spain regarding various issues:
What you need to succeed at GXO
You have a bachelors degree/HBO in related fields or engineering
You are fluent in English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Dutch and Spanish would be an advantage
Master in Logistics would be an advantage
You have availability to work in shifts and weekends
You are committed to deliver high quality work and you have a professional critical attitude
You are self-driven, result-oriented and like to work pro-actively
You have high Knowledge of Microsoft office and Logistics/warehouse
You have Min 1 year of experience in Import, Export, Transport or Customs roles
You are skilful in planning, conflict analysis and resolution
You are alert, precise, flexible, can cope with stress and have a problem-solving ability
