As we continue to scale, we''re looking for a Staff Data Scientist F/M to empower VeesionAI.
You will join our growing Data team currently consisting of three experts in MLOps and Data Science. While the team tackles multiple missions, your focus will be on optimizing the use of our AI models to maximize client satisfaction.
This involves exploring innovative ways to reduce missed thefts and irrelevant alerts by building on top of Veesions Deep Learning models.
Reporting to the Head of Data, you will collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization:
- Chief Executive Officer: Align on business objectives and strategic priorities
- Chief Scientific Officer: Refine problem definitions and methodologies
- Tech Team: Work closely with a team of over 10 software engineers to integrate AI capabilities seamlessly into Veesions systems
Tasks
- Optimize success criteria for each camera by selecting appropriate models, fine-tuning hyperparameters, and adjusting sensitivity thresholds.
- Lead cross-functional projects with a strong Data Science focus, driving innovation and impact.
- Curate and manage datasets to enhance metrics relevance and support meaningful theoretical evaluations.
- Analyze production datato guide development priorities and inform high-level strategic decisions.
- Run video AI models for training and inference on diverse cloud infrastructures.
- Conduct large-scale A/B testing on premises to evaluate and refine AI solutions.
Ideal profile
- Education: A Masters degree or equivalent in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of professional data science or ML Engineering experience (excluding internships), with a strong focus on applying AI and data solutions to real-world challenges.
Desired Skills Required Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Git for version control.
- Solid understanding of statistics, probabilities, and machine learning principles.
- Expertise in data analysis and visualization.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and reasoning capabilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and pipeline orchestration tools.
- Experience with GitHub Actions workflows and Python automated testing.
- Knowledge of Polars or DuckDB for efficient data processing.
- Experience with Docker and MLOps practices.

Interview Process
- Initial Screening (30 minutes, remote): A discussion to review your experience, motivations, and alignment with the role.
- Technical Test (approximately 2 hours, remote): Complete a practical test to assess your problem-solving and technical abilities.
- Technical Interview (1.5 hours, remote): Interview with the Head of Data and Chief Scientific Officer to dive deeper into your technical expertise and approach to solving real-world challenges.
- Final Interview (1 hour, onsite): Meet with our CTO or CEO and the rest of the Data team to discuss cultural fit, expectations, and long-term goals.
