Apply now!The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor, who will be responsible for clinically assessing and treating offenders and / or justice-challenged individuals.Job Duties :Delivers substance abuse education classes and group therapyConducts one-on-one clinical assessments and counseling sessionsMaintains clinical recordsParticipates in clinical staffings or meetingsDevelops individual substance abuse treatment plans with program participantsCoordinates transitional pre-release planning with case managers and maintains accurate statistical dataInteracts with community resource providers and security staffTravels / Drives on state businessPerforms other duties appropriate to the assignmentKnowledge of :Addiction and treatment practices and protocolCounseling, teaching and facilitation techniques and processesCorrectional security practicesPersonal computers and various software programs including, Microsoft Office and Google suitesBusiness English, grammar and spellingSkill in :Verbal and written communicationsDeveloping and maintaining interpersonal relationshipsOrganizational and time managementCollecting and maintaining accurate data, documents and clinical recordsAbility to :Effectively deliver program curriculum in a classroom environmentInteract professionally with offenders in a group setting and one-on-one situationsInteract professionally with security staff and the publicWork in a secured correctional environmentApply Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) policy and proceduresCollect and maintain statistical dataWork as a team member and independently with minimal supervisionSelective Preference(s) :Pre-Employment Requirements :Must be licensed in the State of Arizona as a Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor (LASAC), Licensed Independent Substance Counselor (LISAC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or as a Psychologist.Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and a drug test consistent with Arizona Revised Statutes.If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate drivers license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training.
