Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading international contractor on a major Data Centre project based in Milan. This is a senior-level, permanent position offering exceptional long-term career prospects and the opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of high-profile, technically complex builds.** This is a Site based role and NOT a Design specific position**Responsibilities:Lead the mechanical engineering function on-site, overseeing the design, coordination, and installation of HVAC, piping, and ducting systems.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and site teams.Manage and coordinate mechanical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project timelines, budget, and quality expectations.Review and approve detailed mechanical designs, technical submittals, and method statements.Drive project progress by leading coordination meetings and resolving design or installation issues proactively.Ensure full compliance with design specifications, industry regulations, and safety standards through rigorous quality assurance processes.Oversee mechanical commissioning and system handover in collaboration with commissioning teams and client representatives.Contribute to procurement strategy, material selection, and long-lead item management.Act as the primary point of contact for mechanical engineering matters, reporting to the Project Manager and interfacing with client teams as required.Requirements:Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in large-scale construction projects, ideally within the Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, or Industrial sectors.Proven track record of managing mechanical packages from concept through to commissioning.Deep understanding of mechanical systems design, building services integration, and site-based delivery.Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.Fluent in English; Italian is an advantage but not essential.Willingness to be based on-site in Milan for the duration of the project.
