Your role and responsibilities

As our Procurement Engineering Manager, you will lead the interface between the Procurement and Research and Development (R&D) teams. You will drive procurement knowledge (market, suppliers, external intelligence) into the development process to optimize cost, quality, and technology. Additionally, you will translate R&D and Product Management requests into procurement parameters for execution. You will also lead the Supply Chain Controlling team to execute the RFQ process efficiently, maintain procurement master data, and manage supplier sustainability topics for purchased components.

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Leading all procurement efforts for R&D projects, acting as the central interface between project teams, product management, and procurement divisions. Ensuring effective communication and alignment across stakeholders, and driving the Gate Model process including Make vs. Buy decisions and checklist revisions.
  2. Managing supplier relationships in collaboration with Category Managers, promoting early involvement of strategic suppliers, selecting prototype and production suppliers, and ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and time-to-market goals. Overseeing supplier sustainability compliance (e.g., Conflict Minerals, CBAM, EUDR).
  3. Estimating and achieving product cost and quality targets. Applying design-to-cost, manufacturability, lifecycle, and total cost of ownership analyses to optimize value chains and reduce costs throughout development, prototyping, and testing phases.
  4. Leading the Supply Chain Controlling Team, managing the RFQ Tool and process, maintaining master data in SAP and governance tools. Supporting strategic sourcing teams with RFQs, benchmarks, and analyses, and ensuring sourcing concepts are implemented in production transfers.
