Your function within the departmentWe are looking for a Postdoc to join the Rowland laboratory. Your project will focus on the cycle of chromatin entrapment and release by the cohesin complex. Cohesin is a major player in many aspects of chromosome biology, including sister chromatid cohesion, transcriptional regulation, and DNA repair. Tight control of DNA entrapment by cohesin is essential for each of these processes, and misregulation can lead to developmental disorders and cancer.Research in our lab is driven by fundamental questions that touch upon the essence of the cell cycle and chromosome biology: How does cohesin lock together the sister chromatids in S phase? How does cohesin structure chromosomes in interphase? And what triggers chromosome compaction in mitosis? We aim to address such questions using a combination of genetics, biochemistry and imaging, using both budding yeast and human cells as our model systems.**Profile**:We offer a Postdoc position for an ambitious candidate with a passion for the cell cycle and/or chromosome biology. A solid track record and a background in molecular biology are required. Experience with microscopy, genetics, biochemistry and/or bioinformatics is appreciated.Your career opportunities and terms of employmentYou will join a dynamic international research team, and will collaborate with scientists with expertise in different disciplines. You will have the opportunity to follow high-quality courses offered by the NKI postdoc career development program.- Your temporary employment will be for a period of at least three years. The gross salary per month will be from 3.363,- to 3.774,- according to the FWG-function group 55, and depends on previous experience.
