Under the supervision of Billing Team Supervisor, this position is responsible for billing hospital claims and follow-up on outstanding claims. Responsible for analysis of claims that reject through the electronic claims process and for follow up of unpaid/denied claims. Research account status and takes appropriate action to ensure correct reimbursement. Utilize system work lists and reports to perform follow-up activities. Call insurance payers to resolve outstanding claims and expedite payment. Utilize insurance on-line systems to verify eligibility, claim status...etc. Prepare appeals, resubmit claims, and perform all actions necessary to obtain payment. Process insurance claims, as well as, report processing. Identifies and reports unpaid claim trends. Provides excellent customer service to patients and clients. Performs other related duties as required or requested.Department will be moving in Fall, 2017, to a Trinity Health of New England Regionalized Central Business Office located in Windsor, CT.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: At least 5 years of Inpatient and Outpatient **hospital billing **experience required. Working experience with operating computerized billing systems.Licensure: None.Skills: The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of insurance claims processing, and actively working accounts receivables. Strong knowledge of billing and reimbursement required, along with account follow up and self pay accounts. Must have attention to detail with the ability to produce high quality work. General working knowledge of ICD9 diagnostic and CPT procedural coding, as well as the ability to work with insurance carriers. Ability to enter data quickly, while maintaining accuracy. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to identify and resolve problems independently. Work effectively as part of a team and deliver excellent customer service.
