Job Description Join our team as aTax Manager EUCAN in the Global Tax / EUCAN Tax group.
This role will be critical in advising and managing the Takedas tax position in a selected group of European countries focusing on Eastern Europe. General responsibilities include but are not limited to pro-actively managing the tax audits with the relevant tax authorities in this region on a regional and local level, supervising and ensuring that all tax matters are being properly handled for including but not limited to tax accounting, tax compliance, tax litigation and transfer pricing, providing advice and support to local finance and helping actively educate business partners on relevant changes in tax legislation with material impact on the business.
Serving as a trusted partner to the business, this individual will play a key bridge function between the global tax functional leads and finance Takeda Business Solutions Hub in the region with the ability to reduce complexity and balance local vs. global considerations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Establish and maintain network to business within the countries in scope, analyze tax implications for transactions and provide high quality tax support to business partners such as finance, legal, business development, supply chain, HR, country managers, etc.
- Ensure professional and transparent communication with tax authorities at all time
- Accountable for corporate income tax compliance and tax audit defence within the region including coordination of corporate income tax compliance work with the Takeda Business Solutions (TBS Tax Solutions) in Poland and the local tax service provider
- Proactively identify, manage and mitigate tax risks
- Actively lead tax audits in the countries in scope including an alignment on information and data requests and liaison with global tax functional leads on audit defence strategy
- Streamline and monitor procedure for indirect tax, withholding taxes, and other taxes.
- Responsible for monitoring legislative changes in the region which will have a material impact on the business or alerting tax planning team on material changes in the business
- Proactively evaluate tax risks and discuss mitigating actions
- Monitor and coordinate transfer pricing adjustments / documentation within the countries in scope in cooperation with Transfer Pricing team
- Review contracts and business initiatives from a tax perspective
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong tax technical expertise
- Ability to analyze complex matters and to present options for decision making
- Ability to communicate effectively, and influence without authority across finance in the countries in remit, the business and external stakeholders
- Ability to make well founded decisions with respect to tax compliance, tax audit and tax litigation in the countries in scope as well as to manage external providers
- Engagement across a wide variety of stakeholders in Tax, Finance, GBS, the business, ISIT and external consulting firms
- Find innovate ways to capture information on materials business transactions for future tax audits and find innovate ways to reduce complexity and improve processes and communication
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Required:
- University Degree in accounting/finance/law, masters degree in Economics/Finance or Law Degree, preferably with a specialization in Taxation
- Experience in a tax position, with a minimum of 3 years of experience within the Pharma industry or Big 4 industries
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and fiscal framework ideally in Eastern Europe
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting for income taxes
- Strong tax research and presentation skills
- Multilingual
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- CPA and/or certification as tax specialist (in line with regional industry standards)
- Relevant experience within Takeda or the global life science industry
- Interest in Tax Technology
- Experience with the concept of Shared Services
- Public accounting experience
- Fluent in one Eastern European language
