DescriptionThe opportunityAs a Machinery Safety Engineer, you will report directly to the HUB HSE Manager (Europe) and act as a technical lead and subject matter expert in machine risk assessment, functional safety for machinery, and machine safeguarding according to industry consensus (regional/local) and internal standards.We seek a professional with a holistic view who understands the complexities involved in change management and project management processes.You will collaborate closely with regional and factory operations teams, actively participating in decision-making to advise and support the implementation of safety-critical controls for industrial machinery capital projects and upgrades.You will lead efforts in identifying and sharing transferable practices, evaluating, and developing local machine safety competencies.How you''ll make an impactLead risk assessment initiatives and risk mitigation efforts within the scope of machine safety.Support the development of organizational capability by providing machine safety training and enhancing technical competency at local sites.Lead the deployment strategy and plan for the successful cross-functional implementation of relevant internal corporate and business standards related to machine safety.Assist in investigating incidents (including near misses and recordable injuries) to determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.Support response and containment actions in machine safety-related emergencies.Facilitate continuous improvement of the machine safety process by acting as a regional business partner, engaging site, functional, and business leaders.Provide technical safety advice and risk reviews for capital projects involving machinery, tools, and equipment, collaborating with internal global processes, technical experts, and key suppliers.Support defining the scope for preventive maintenance plans on machinery and equipment.Travel regionally as needed to support local sites.Your backgroundBachelor''s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (HSE education or similar experience is desirable).Knowledge of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, ISO 12100:2010, and fundamental safety design principles.At least 5 years of regional experience in machine safety process/program management, maintenance, risk assessment, and design.Experience reading and designing diagrams for electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.Proactive mindset with the ability to initiate actions and make decisions.Excellent communication and influencing skills to build trust across organizational levels.Willingness to travel and broaden experience.Fluency in English, both written and spoken.More about usWe offer the opportunity to work with talented colleagues and develop on projects that are technically challenging and impactful.Wide range of benefits (Italy):Health insurancePension fundWelfare programsSmart workingFlexible working hoursLunch tickets or canteen accessQualified individuals with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations if they are unable or limited in using or accessing the Hitachi Energy career site due to disability.
